I just received a discount in my email for Holidays. I stated in a previous form I will not order online again. Especially I had a bad experience with FB. But since I wanted to buy this fish and with the discount I decided to give another try. Since I dealt with them a few times and had a good experience. Only thing they prices are high. I was expecting fish this Friday but instead I received an e-mail.
This is outstanding for a company to make sure the fish is healthy to ship.
Here is what they sent.
Thank you for your recent order with Blue Zoo Aquatics. Unfortunately, we were unable to ship your order out due to the fact that the angelfish you ordered neededto be observed a little bit longer before ship out. The curator here inspects all the animals every day and if he is not 100% convinced they will not get too stressed out during shipment, he likes to hold the order back until he is satisfied with the animals and their ability to handle the journey of shipment. He will be inspecting your angeldaily and when he feels it is ready to ship we will call you and be able to ship that day or any day after that works for you.

We apologize for any inconveniences. Please understand that shipping animals isn't like normal online orders where we can just grab a product and stick in a box and ship it out. We like to make sure the animals are going to have a safe and healthy journey to your door.

I agree, that is awesome......but I am confused as what they think is being too stressed out? The calmest of fish will become stressed as soon as it is removed from the tank and put in a box to be flown across the world. I would be concerned that the fish is being held back due to an illness or something else?

I take it as they observing the fish that she eating and strong so she can handle shipping. I rather have a place that doing just this than just placing them in a bag. I will see when she arrives.

Making sure it is eating is different than being stressed out.....I guess the wording just confuses me. Maybe I am reading too into it lol.

I was thinking about buying from them too. Haven’t had good luck with Liveaquaria. There prices aren’t high and they offer free shipping at $140.

  1. It's easy to read into. But if something goes wrong. Won't it look like they left them self open that they was something wrong with the fish. That can be a possible. I bet they won't send it if that's the case. I think this is positive good or bad just to be observing the fish them just placing fish in bag.

Blue Zoo Aquatics gets an A+ from me as well. I was looking for a One Spot Foxface earlier this year and they where in short supply at the time at all the online fish stores. I ordered one from Blue Zoo, but unfortunately when it was shipped we had a weather event and FedEx shipping was delayed. The fish died in transit. I contacted Blue Zoo and they said they would ship me another, but had none in stock. They worked with me for over a month trying to source a Foxface, and when they did source one, they delayed shipping as well, because they wanted to make sure the fish was healthy for shipping.

When he was finally ready for shipping they gave me a call and I got a very healthy Foxface. He is a great addition to my tank and is doing very well.
I do appreciate the time they took to communicate with me thru the process and the fact that they made sure I was getting shipped a Healthy Fish!!

I’ve had mixed results with bluezoo. I also have gotten that message on a few orders. I have a feeling it actually means the fish died and they currently have no replacements available, but that could just be my pessimism coming out. I ordered an anemone in the past and got that message. It ended up being 3 months before they had another available but I had found one elsewhere by that point. Overall I think they are just as good as any other online retailer. Certain fish are priced crazy high for some reason, and their warranty isn’t as good as live aquaria but I do order from them if they have something I’m looking for .

It’s better to delay than ship out an unhealthy fish like Liveaquaria will do. I don’t see that as a negative.

I’ve ordered from LA/DD, BlueZoo and NYAquatic and would not hesitate to do so again. I have the best success rate with NYA, but since I am local to them, I can skip a shipping step (so its an unfair comparison). I have generally equivalent success with LA/DD and BluZoo, with no preference for one over the other.

I’ve had pretty good luck with NYA but his shipping is so expensive to FL that it makes ordering from him too costly usually. Just this week I tried to order 12 Azure damsels and a convict tang and shipping was going to be $98. Sometimes he has some rare stuff that I’ll pay the shipping on but for more common stuff it’s not worth it.

Hey Mike, I need one or two more mask swallow tails I lost one female. The problem is they around in summer. I was able to order one from blue zoo aquatics since I had a 25% coupon code. So I'm waiting for them to ship one.

I'm pretty lucky. Michael only 20 mins from me. I like going there when I need something. I picked up baby blue lines a few months ago. Only person I have seen to carry that fish. NYA is good place.
