I've had one for several months now and just wanted to share how awesome this fish is. I was a little worried when I purchased it from what I read about jumping, being timid etc. But this fish has surprised me. I have a male lyretail and a tomini tang that can be bullies sometimes, but the tilefish is not intimidated at all. The tilefish is out all the time. In fact, it's hard to look at my corals because the tilefish (along w/ my clown) always swim right in front of my eyes, begging for something The tilefish even comes out to investigate the siphon when i do wc. I have sand on bottom, but have yet to see it burrow. Very underrated fish imo.

I agree 100%...... Very under rated fish. Very colorful, active, relatively large, not aggressive, and usually out in the open. Often near the surface. They are jumpers though. Especially when in small containers, like during acclimation.

How’s the fish doing now? I still want one or a pair. Does yours burrow itself in the sandbed? I have special grade sand which is somewhat corse and I am afraid it will be too rough for them to burrow in.

anyone?
