So my fiancé got me a Bluespot Jawfish as an early Christmas present. (Really been wanting one).
I put him in the tank yesterday morning and he seems to be doing just fine. Now I’m sure other people have had this happen, so far he has just decided to burrow behind the rock work. It is what it is, but is there any possible ways I may be able to entice him into being out in front more? May it just come with time?

Thanks In advance

Jawfish are nosey, so usually they end up in the front of the tank to better see what's going on.

Provide rubble in the front of the tank and that will help his move to the front.

Thank you for your response, I planned on taking some rock out of my fuge and breaking it up for him. Came out this morning to find him right in the front right corner of the tank[emoji4]

I would say marry her but you're already on track with that, marry her twice maybe?? That's an amazing gift :D

Just as a note, make sure you keep the tank on the colder side for that fish and also feed many times a day, they are facile buy awesome fish. Good thing you have a lid!

Hahaha right? It was a really nice surprise! She even had my local LFS lie to me and get me in the store and surprise me with the fish. Plus, she’s officially spent more on a single fish than I have..

I appreciate the note! I was slowly planning on getting one before my fiancé surprised me with the fish. I got my screen tops in anticipation for the fish and had already worked on lowering my reef from 79 to about 76.5 right now. I’m going to try and get it a little lower. The guy is doing awesome thus far. Even decided to move around front.

Over the long term these fish need temps in the low 70's to thrive. Also are chronic jumpers.

Thanks for the note. I have screen tops. Also, before getting the fish I worked on lowering my temp form 79 down to 76.5. Plan on getting it a little lower. I understand it’s a difficult balance while having a reef.
