Bonded pair aggression

Long story short, no things are not better. The only thing I can come up with after spending hours observing for the last week is the little one is no longer interested and being submissive to the bigger one. Which is why it’s looking like a frayed ghost right now

Doesn't sound like they're actually 'bonded' anymore, so maybe add some more clowns so the female isn't always targeting the one fish?

Lock up the female for at least a week. But put her in the corner with no tank space. That way she cannot claim any territory. Make sure you watch them closely and have time dedicated to spend when you reintroduce. You can see a pic in my journal of what I mean.

I got her locked up 4B2762D6-43BC-45B1-A7C3-0F3D0DD5AA48.jpeg

So I got an update. I didn’t take a pictures but it’s the first time I noticed it and I believe they have laid eggs. My wife got home and I went to show her but it was all completely gone. I think they ate it all. So yah they are getting along great now

I was actually just going to say mine had a second bout just before they spawned, yours is a good example of about as bad as it can be w/ fin tearing, and good move w/ the crate barrier.
Glad it worked and better than expected.

So for the last month or so the female clown has been attacking my starry blenny and only it of all the fish in the tank. She just picks at it until it goes up and over into my overflow.

Hard to say, maybe the starry was picking algae at rocks near where female was planning to clean and lay on.
When clowns make this final change it's like a frantic crazy hormone imbalance period, especially at first spawn.
It should mellow after a little bit, though she will keep anyone away from her area.

I'd say cover overflow w/ eggcrate, but hopefully that does not make the starry stuck on top of it high and dry...

It’s a coast to coast overflow with an external overflow box. The blenny will just hang out in the coast to coast section and I’ve left it in there for days at a time. It might do alittle clean up control while in here. But the second I put it back in display the female clown is out swimming checking it out. Out of the twelve fish it’s only them 2 not getting along.

I’ve been thinking what if I put the starry blenny in refugium and then maybe tried out a new blenny other then a starry in display

Thought I’d add an update about my clowns. They’ve been laying eggs like clock work for some time now and today I got to see her lay the eggs. I’m not one to just grab my phone and start taking pictures and video of life so by the time I realized hey I should take a video, she was done
