I've been admitting on R2R occasionally for quite a while that I've been letting the corals go too long and getting coral warfare etc... I've been thinning things out for several months now. Going slow so that I don't throw the system out of balance. I pulled out another 3ish pounds today. My problem is the bone cutters. The ones on the top weren't getting the job done, so I bought the industrial cutters shown on the bottom. Both have 7" handles, and I really don't have room for anything much longer. I still can't cut the stylophora where I want it. Even with both hands. I broke my Pink Lemonade acro off trying to cut this thing, so any ideas on how to glue a acro that's about 7" tall by 4" wide back down would also be appreciated.

Does anyone have any idea how I can trim this bad boy way back without removing the rockwork? I don't think I could even get it out without taking all of the rockwork apart. I've got another one just like it that needs to be trimmed way back too.

The branch on the right doesn't look too thick, but it's grown into the branch behind it and is about 2.5" across. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Word to the wise: Don't let this happen to you!

What do you mean by you can't cut it where you want to? As in you can't break the branches or you can break them but just not the ones that are closer inside?

By the way an apostrophe means feet and quotation mark means inches. For example I'm 6'2" tall. A 7 foot acro would be impressive though...

I’m not sure where to get them- but reefgurrl on YouTube has a coral hand saw. Maybe this may work for you? Sorry I did look it up, and not really sure where to get them, but it may be what you need lol

I meant that I can't break the branches back away from the glass because they're just to thick.

Yeah. I caught my mistake after I posted and was hoping I edited it before anyone caught it. Oops. What, you don't believe I have a 7 foot acro?

Second word to the wise: Proof read before you post. :p

That sounds promising! I'll try to look it up.

I think I found it.

This might just do the trick. Thanks!

Imagine you’d destroy the aquascape using that. Sometimes you just have to rip out the entire colony, do your surgery on a towel, and put the better parts of what’s left back in. I had to do that a while back with a green slimer colony that I had let grow out of control.

Yeah. I took apart my slimer colony and glued back 2 pieces to keep it going. The problem with the stylos is that I think their skeletons are harder than the rock. I've let them go so long that they've attached to more than one rock and I can't even break them off. I've also got colonies close to them that I don't want to tear up too badly.

By the way, any idea how to reattach my 7" pink lemonade acro that I knocked off trying to chop the stylo? I always thought that I go through a lot of alk and cal. Now I know where it's going.

I got a professional tree pruning saw that probably would work although I can’t imagine it would last long in salt water.
Right about now I'm considering a hammer and chisel, or maybe a small seismic charge.
