They need a water temperature of 70-84 fahrenheit. Odds are you won't be able to pet it. And they're requiem sharks, so they pretty much won't stop swimming.
However, are you even capable of keeping them? I hope you realize that you'd need at the minimum a 14,200 gallon oval/circular aquarium/pool. If a circle it would need at least a 25' diameter, oval would be 35' long by 15' wide.

You cannot cut corners with the size of a bonnethead' s aquarium. It will get spinal disorders if cramped in small areas. For tank mates it can be kept with other sharks the same size and can be kept in small groups. If you do keep them with tank mates the tank needs to have extra swimming room and you have to have an alternative housing plan if they start fighting. It is best to keep no rockwork in the aquarium with a bonnethead.

Exactly this. If you were to get say, an Epaulette, then sure, you have some flexibility as long as it's at least 3 times as long as the shark and 1.5 times as wide as the shark is long. But this is a shark that likes to walk around, bonnetheads need a lot of swimming space.
