I think I need a booster pump but don't know which one. I found a aqutec 6800 for about $35 but Brs recommends the 8800. Will the 6800 work? I have a spectrapure 90gpd and my pressure now is about 35 just in case it's needed? Thanks

I would go with the 8800, it will provide you with much needed pressure. The 6800 may work, but it will be at full capacity and will likely not last as long. Spend a few extra buks and get the better pump.

I just looked at both and there were complaints of the 8800 being loud. I went with the 6800 and it works great. Plus, it's a little cheaper.

It boosts pressure from about 40 to 90psi, and you can dial it back if you want. The 6800 was $95 with the pressure switch and power supply on Amazon vs. $150 on BRS for the 8800 kit.

I should add that with the added pressure, my TDS after the membrane went from 35 ppm down to 9 ppm.

Don't forget to get the power supply and pressure shutoff switch, and not just the pump.

Thanks for the comparison and noticable difference even with the 6800!

I agree on price and functionality of the 2, 6800 would most definitely work....of course in my impulse moment I ordered the 8800 on amazon. I do believe it is over kill for my 75g per day 7 stage. But My psi did drop into the mid 20's while I was filling for my first time. It started off solid around 35-40 but a few minutes into it the pressure dropped. I run on my own well and "well" I wanted to make sure I had enough pressure.

Amazon has their package for 118 free shipping. I believe they had the whole package of the 6800 for around $80. This is what I got and I believe it has the whole package....someone here let me know if I missed anything.

Good luck OP if you dont run your own well you should be fine with the 6800 and the pressure it adds ;)

Thanks for the responses guys I really appreciate it. The power supply comes with it. So all I need is the shut off.

I've had my 8800 ever since I started reefing in 2014. It's a workhorse and my ro/di couldn't live without it.

I got the 8800 and I am on well water and my pressure was from 30 to 45 as my well pump cycles. Now I am at a solid 85psi and make water just over two times as fast. It is a little loud but mine is in the basement and with the tv going on the floor right above it I don’t hear it.
