I've had my Aquatec 8800 for over 4 years and got it used, so who knows how old this thing really is. Over the past few water changes it has gotten pretty loud. It sounds like the electric motor is getting worn, is there a way to repair it or should I just buy a new one?

How's the pressure on it?? I did a little searching and found they sell a diaphragm kit for that pump but that's about all you could change out it appears.

If it's the motor I'd suggest buying a new one and call it a day. You could probably repair it if you can find the needed components etc... at the end of the day you'll still have a 4+year pump.

Maybe time to retire the old one for a new one and get another 4+ years

I had an Aquatec 8800 and it made a jackhammering sound through my entire townhouse. It all went away when I switched to a Shurflo Gold.

The pressure is fine. The membrane was leaking a few weeks ago until I fixed it. I'm assuming that some water got into the bearings and rusted them a bit. I'm going to tear it apart to see if I can lubricate them, if not I'll just end up buying a new one.
