that will have wiggling live creatures agreed worthy purchase.
(I cant tell prior if that company is selling for ten bucks one handfull of activated sand or not, or if its just from the regular bag Eli said wasn't all that diverse or live)
to pay for the microscopic-only inclusions is a bit misleading, any reef tank even a dry start system will by rule build up the same inclusions free because of transfer and vectoring in by frags and snail shells and fish slime coats.
paying for the activated caribsea sand that doesnt have myriad live scurrying creatures easily seen is kind of a sales gimmick. but the bag o pods/garf is legit.
as long as we can see the actual bugs/not a ripoff.
the 'invisible' bugs or just wet activated caribsea, even if from another tank, isn't giving us bacteria that makes a difference in cycling for example. a reef with or without that seed sand still carries the same bioload. (the bacteria dosed initially from any source are going to streamline into the common groups Eli's testing was revealing across tanks, initial seeding is not the determinant)
space competition over time and imports already affixed to marine surfaces will have the final say with or without an initial seed.
the invisible/activated type sand isn't giving us anything that controls dinos or algae, something utilitarian.
but the bag of bugs will for sure help on those items. not so much the algae, but dinos yes.
