I have a 2yr old Borbonius that has gradually over 6-9 months developed a dark spot near the tail that has brown and now is about 1/4 inch in diameter

He’s posted this multiple times. One post has a good picture

Sorry but first time posting.
Have second shot below.
50gallon mixed reef up for 2 1/2 yrs and no new fish for 1 1/2 yrs, only corals and snails. No other fish appear to have any problems and have not had any fish deaths since start of tank. All fish quarantined for 2-3 months before addition to reef. Borbonius in no distress, eats and swims like a champ. In fact it’s the alpha dog in the tank and keeps a library’s wrasse, 2spot tang, and starckii damsel in line.

Haven't a clue and would be guessing at this point. If you can snap a photo under white light to better see color (Brown) this might help. If I were to take a stab at it I would guess hypermelanization but I haven't heard of this in Pseudo Anthias.

Problem is the area around this mass is swollen and has a dark red center spot on the skin surface. Any disease experts able to chime in? Mely? Humblefish?

Started off as a tiny dark spot under the skin and scales, now appears to have broken out into the surface

Thought about that at first but it kept growing larger and just broke skin surface.

Looks like a bruise, but that smaller "hole" is indicative of a bacterial infection: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/bacterial-infections.191511/

I would begin antibiotic treatment immediately: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/antibiotics.283711/

Specifically, Kanaplex + Furan-2 + Metroplex. I would also food soak Kanaplex, using Seachem Focus to bind the medication to food.

Thanks much- was leaning that way.
I assume isolation in QT tank and treatment is the way to go?
