Have a 2 yr old borbonius that developed a small dark mass on one side of its body near the tail below the skin surface. It’s grown over 6-9 months and now is about 1/4 inch and has now developed what looks like a dark red spot in the center and now us on the skin surface. No other problems- continues to eat and swim with other fish in a 50 gallon mixed reef 2 1/2 yrs old that hasn’t had any new fish added in 1 1/2 yrs, only corals and snail clean up crew. Any ideas on diagnosis and treatment guys?

It looks like a bacterial infection, but the fact that it's a mass that's been growing for a while has me thrown for a loop. I tagged some help for you.

Wow that’s really perplexing, could be internal damage of some sort. I’ll wait for other experts to chime in, sorry I’m of little help!

Edit: sorry I thought there was a white lump on the fish, I now see the red “pimple”. I’d be assuming an infection as well.

Thanks for the help everyone-getting some antibiotics ASAP. Would hate to lose this guy-started at barely one inch and now he’s 2+inches and boss of the tank.
