BortElos120

Got the tank home and unloaded into the garage! This will be it's home for the next week or so. I am going to grind down the stand to bare metal. It has a lot of rust on it currently. The stand is constructed of square tubular steel, and is super heavy! My intentions will be to paint it high gloss white after i grind it down and cover it with multiple coats of rust proof primer.

The display will be set up as a walk around 4-sided viewable display, and I will buff it with Novus 3 and Novus 2 prior to setting up.

Well.....it's been about 1 month and a half since the mishap with the Elos 120... The latest update is that we have been issued a check to replace our floors, repair the ceiling in the basement, and cleaning service. I have also received about 1/2 of the claim on the equipment. We are currently in limbo waiting for our floors to be replaced so that a new display tank can be placed back into this room. During this time, I have been scrambling to find a cool/unique display tank for "Igor" the Green Moray. I hate tanks that aren't rimless, so that has made it tough to find the right tank. I also do not like the average long rectangle shaped tanks most of the larger tanks are available in. Then I came across this.....

The tank was being sold by an optometrist who had ordered the setup and received 2 tanks by mistake. He arranged a deal with the manufacturer to purchase the 2nd tank and planned to set up 2 displays, but changed his mind. So this tank had sat in storage and never had seen water. It is approximately 180g and measures 60"x24"x30" Tall. Best part about it, it's GLASS!!!

I am currently working on the stand, and hope to have it up and running very very soon as Igor needs to come home! Here is what the seller's display looked like. My stand will be a bit different.

Well....as I slowly get these two displays up and running, I wanted to share some pictures and details on a new toy!

I recently picked up a Deltec SC 2560 with a matching Deltec CS 2560! This skimmer is fully capable of running on a system of well over 500g. I didn't need a skimmer this large, but I love to stock my tanks to the limits and feeding tends to take it's toll on a tank if water changes aren't regular. I have had many different skimmers from various Reef Octopus, Vertex, Bubble King, and Eshopps models. All of which ran very well, many under performed due to stocking levels, and others performed well as long as i kept up on cleaning them regularly.

Already, I am in LOVE with this set up! The Skimmer itself couldn't have been easier to set up and as you can see in the pics below, it just keeps producing dark thick skimmate. The added bonus for me, is the Self Cleaning head! Like water changes, i lack the regular maintenance schedule it takes to run a reef, and this thing cleans the neck every 8 minutes! This thing is AMAZING!

These are the pics from initial set up. Fits perfectly in my SKIMZ SUMPRO UP-39!
