So I have had these 2 clownfish in my DT for almost 2 weeks now I believe. They have been acting fine until today when I added my CUC. They have been spazzing out since. They are swimming back and forth and up and down really fas, breathing fast, and stirring up sand all night. They usually dig holes with their fins randomly throughout the day but they have been doing pretty much all afternoon and night now.

They appear healthy. No visible signs of illness. Is it just the added snails that are freaking them out? They look like someone injected them with adrenaline. They just keep going.

Ammonia badge shows no ammonia. I checked nitrites and nitrates and they were 0 and 10 respectively.

Have they calmed down?

Somewhat. The male is back to hosting the corner of the tank by a power fan. The female has slowed down a bit but still zooming around more than usual. Both are still breathing faster than I have seen before. They aren’t big gulps but there mouths open very small over and over. Sometimes they stop. It just seems more excessive than what I have seen before with them.

My sand bed was about an inch and half deep. The clowns moved so much sand over a weeks period that I had deep 2.6 to 3 inch hills. Yesterday before I add the the CUC, I did a water change and sucked out some sand to make it not so deep and moved stuff back as best I could. I left there hole in the corner off the tank where they liked to sleep. I am guessing they are mad that I moved sand around on them and are moving it all back. Mainly the female has been digging.

The one thing I noticed late last night was that the female had a 2 white spots on her. One on the bottom of the chin and one between her top jaw and eye. The one under her chin is gone and the one under her eye, by her jaw is still there. I think it is sand stick to her from digging all night. I seen a few others appear and disappear last night has well.

Well she is back to normal. They both are breathing normal and the female is back to doing what she always does and is not zipping around the tank. I think she was stressed by the sand bed shift, water change, and addition of CUC.
