With all the leak threads out there my new 165g tank is making me nervous. I see a lot of tanks this size and up have bottom perimeter bracing. Is this really necessary or are there still plenty of large tanks being safely made without this? I have a 71 x 24 x 22 with 1/2" glass on sides and 5/8" glass on bottom with a top euro brace only. Does the thicker 5/8" bottom glass accomplish the same as the bottom perimeter bracing or is this something I should look into having added?

My question refers to additional internal glass bracing, like a euro brace on the inside bottom of the tank. Thanks

Oh gotcha. Can be used for extra support, especially when repairing a tank. Or used when someone doesn't know what they're doing.
