bottom trim important or not?

My 150 gallon has pieces of bottom trim missing and there was no bracing built in and I can't find a straight answer as to if the bottom trim is that important for structural reasons
 
From Marineland when asked about a cracked trim.

"The cracked trim on your tank should not be a problem. The frames are used primarily to help us align the glass properly in production and adds little to the structural integrity. The glass panels are sealed together with silicone."

That sounds a bit questionable. Seems like people get different answers from them on that topic all the time. Photos of the trim would be nice, to see just how bad of a situation it is.
