not sure what the deal is but ive taken it apart and put it back together a few times. no dice.

the bushing has a weaker hold on the one side and seems to not have the slot to fit the shaft.

almost like this is jebao chinese junk....

yeah. i spent $300 on it and immediately regret it.

back to the lfs i go

Russ what Gyre did you purchase, was the gyre new?

IIRC, when my 150 arrived it was setup so one side was blowing out and the other side was pulling water in. I had to change out the propeller to the one that blows the water out. I thought one side was not working. Idk if that's what is wrong, just a thought.

my one side didnt even spin

Russ, this is not a good experience:) Have you check to see if both impellers are the same. Also pull the heads apart and see if during shipping that the heads do not have to much tench-on (crammed together by vibration) and free up the impeller.

the weakness was between the shaft of the impeller and the plastic wave maker's bushing. the bushing was there but it seemed like it was rounded or wasnt tight enough. which is weird because it is a crescent shape to hold torque.

the lfs exchanged it for another... if this one doesnt work im just gonna get mp60s

Right on russ!
Glad you got a working one and performing well :)

I've been contemplating buying one of these. In the beginning of your post I was like ok glad I didn't cause it seams like people have nothing but problems with these but then by the end I was like ok maybe I'll give them a try, lol

Keep us updated Russ
There were a few issues before so hopefully they are corrected by now

if you are contemplating one.... this is what it does for my 265.

keep in mind... idk if the power will stay this strong, or whatever. 7ft long tank...

I am running two 130' and a Mp 40 in my tank 72 bowfront DT. Love the flow, the gyre's are on top and the mp 40 is two thirds down in the middle. Remember to clean the Gyre's about every three months. The impellers will get clogged with gunk, so I tear them down and soak them in vinegar for 10 minutes not to break down the rubber parts. Buy parts is expensive:rolleyes:. Good to hear that you have a working one. I keep mine at 50% or I would have too much flow.

75% seems good for my tank. i may bump it to 85. especially when they lose power i can see me using 100%.

overall it seems worth the price (for now)
