bought and lost my 1st bubble tip anemone

So I bought a baby(1 inch around) bubble tip anemone. It came on a rock(great no foot damage) that I put into my aquarium high up on my rock with medium water flow. When I got home with it my lights were at the tail end of sunset and just after get him/her into the aquarium the moonlight came on. I watched for about 2 hours as the BTA worked it's way down to the bottom of my rock and I went to bed. Next morning nowhere to be seen and that was 2 days ago. Still haven't seen it, and it's in a 20 gallon nano with 3 rocks. Not in the sump(AIO) not chewed up by wave pump(it's covered). I've looked everywhere I can without taking the rocks apart and nothing about the tank is telling me it's dead. It glows in blue light and I'm not seeing it. Where ever it is it's not getting any light and I can't feed it. Now I know why I like buying coral---it stays put.

Need tank specs, lights, flow, etc. And tank parameters! Age of tank? Before pictures?

Anemones can be very strange (to us) at times. I've had/have a nem 5" across squeeze into a 1/2" hole in a rock and look like a blob of goo. Next day, back in full bloom. We have one we've named "Kami" (aka: Kamikazi) This nem tried to end it's life in an overflow, we rescued it and put it in our "penalty box" (acclimation box) Then it tried assisted suicide in a powerhead not once but twice - back to the penalty box. Finally moved it to our 65gal tank with 2 Gold Nugget clowns and it's been a model citizen since. So don't fret, hopefully it will surface.

Well 6 days after I bought it came home from work to find this.

And today with the lights on, it's upside down in a overhang and not in the light. Mandatory in the picture Clown fish---well they think they should be in every picture I take.

It might take a while to get settled, but it should be fine. The best thing to do is leave it alone. By attempting to move it, you can tear its foot, which can kill it.

Trust me 5 decades in saltwater I long ago learned to just leave it alone and watch, watch, watch and take action when really needed. It took 1/2 of 1 of those decades to learn when action was really needed. This little guy is on his own, only things it's getting from me is a good home and food.

So long as hes still attached and got colour ...he will be fine ...but it can take a few weeks for them to settle ..especially in a new tank or young tank ...you say you dont have much in so I'm guessing its new....most advise waiting at least 8 -12 months before adding a nem too a tank ...but solong as your params are in check and your lights strong enough he will be fine ....ohhh and be happy yours has bubbles ....mine never bubble ..so something is going right ....

Well yesterday he moved into the light and right into a zoa colony, still there today. Got to feed him.

Lol. Get some more when the nem is definitely settled and put them on the other side of the tank.

It’s usually best to start things off at the bottom, especially BTAs. They will walk to where they feel comfortable. I put my baby nem on the floor. It walked up to the very top then got stuck in the overflow box before finally attaching himself to a rock. About a 10 day ordeal before he came to his senses.

Glad you found your nem! The most important thing is to shield your Powerheads !!! I lost an inferno to a Powerhead before... lesson learned

Im not an anemome fan but got a rose bubbletip about 3 weeks ago cheap and put it in my 45 frag tank.
2 days after putting it in it split. Now I have 2 lol.
It was 6"+ dia.
I had green bubbletips in the early 90's that had a 10"+ thin long foot.
they would really stretch up to the halides. Seems you dont see many like that anymore as they all seem to split before they get big?
