Someone had a tank break down and the water was way off in guessing because everything was doing pretty poorly.

There's an 11 head torch that the tentacles are barely extended but in confused because the base on them is smaller than anything I've seen before. I'm curious if this is normal or if they've just been receding due to the neglect.

There's also an indo gold thays super small too so that's why I'm curious.

What are the odds of come back? I dipped in revive and Bayer yesterday.

Also they had quite a bit of hair algae and bubble algae on them which I cleaned off and my cuc has already picked it all clean too.

i paid 300 for all of it includinf a rose anemone and 3 mushrooms

Top pic looks like a Duncan to me as well.

That first pic doesn't look like a torch. Looks like a Duncan. A closer pic would help.
If it is a Duncan, and you paid $300 for this stuff, you got ripped off (short of some unusual mushroom you didn't post)
Yeah im thinking the same thing, but seller claimed the tentacles were longer but the water quality caused it to shrink.

I mean I understand that because of the indo how it could recess but somethings off for sure, these tentacles are fat. Ive never seen a duncan that was like this though. Bright tips and colors. It's strange.

Here it is before

Lets hope it comes back because torches here are 80$ a head at the cheapest
Not. A. Torch.
Here’s a pic of my Duncan. It’s about the size of a baseball. Bright green and blue. I could adjust the colors and contrast to make it glow if I wanted.

This is it as well.

My photos arent color enhanced thats just normal pics. its really green

Well I hope it was worth it. 300$ for this ****, better come back. Sometimes prices get the best of us. I usually know beter, and have waited 8 months before buying coral so that I could get something decent

Are you saying you bought the corals from the person with that insta account? Because they also have a Duncan that’s the same size. I think you got ripped off.

Yes can you pleas elink it

edit: it’s obviously happier in this photo, but if I had to bet I’d say it’s the same coral. Definitely not the green torch in the other instagram posts.

edit #2, I think $150 would be a fair price for an 11 head Duncan in good health, in not so good health probably $50-$75.

I think youre right. this thing has large fat mouths on it. But yes I got ripped off. Go figure. She swears up and down its a torch but I think shes just inexperienced. I bought it based off prior photos and didnt expect it to look like this. Her tank hadnt been taken care of for 3-4 months

An expensive lesson to learn. I don't know if you live in the states, but I usually find the best deals from local reefers by joining facebook groups. You'll come across a few guys that grow or import coral to go to all the smaller coral shows. I've purchased a few things from sellers here, but it's always a lot less stressful seeing the corals in someones tank before buying.

Same thats where I got this from. I took it out on a limb that I could revive it as a torch and itd be worth the money. Ive bought plenty from the group before. Sad part is im actually broke af and went out to buy it jkust to get some gains

I don’t know if there’d be any point in confronting her, she’d probably just block you, but that’s pretty scummy.

Theres not. YOu know, it is what it is. She really thinks its a Torch. butr regardless the reef community is really chill so I doubt mal-intent was meant. Ill just have to wait till next year before I add anything else.

I take it you never seen the Saltwater Scammers FB page. While agree that the vast majority of reefers are honest, cool people, there alre also a lot of people in the hobby trying to rip people off (usually with bait and switches like this). I could be wrong, but just going off her posts on Instagram, I don’t think I buy that she didn’t know it’s not a torch. But again, I don’t think there’s any point in pursuing it.
