has anyone ever seen or have a bounce acan? I have had this frag for a few months and as it is growing it is “bouncing”. Check it out! Let’s hear some thoughts, cause it would seem there is little info on these right now. Pretty neat and a true new one on me!

Welcome to R2R!

Thats a new one to me! Pretty cool :)

I’m surprised nobody has any input. I’ve never seen it either, would be interesting to know what other corals can bounce as well. Either way cool coral, seems like it would have value as a rarity if nothing else.

One of my flower pot nems will do that in one spot occasionally, and my cherry bowerbanki. For me it doesn't last long before it pops.

But yours is definitely larger than I've seen, and pretty darn cool and wouldn't be surprised if it lasts.

Ya no doubt on the rarity. I can’t wait to see how it grows out!

Check your tanks potassium levels, I’ve had acans, lobos, and chalices show a increased level of “bouncing” in a increased potassium level. Only adverse effect of seen of it is if it pops it is readily develops a infection.

Lol out of all the test kits I have the Red Sea potassium is one I’ve never managed to get right!

I honestly don't know if these are bounce or not. It gets no uv at all and all heads are uniform with some odd bubbles. Nothing special I'm sure and wouldn't care if it was but I do really like the look. In full shade with almost no flow on it or it won't grow. I like that all the heads show this odd trait. Being a pattern it's definitely not bounce but kind of on the line for the look I guess

you guys run what lighting ?. All "bouncing" are keloids, burned soft tissue , It happens under certain spectrum / lights almost like 100% guarantee , I personally dont try and make my corals burn, Nor do I buy into the bounce craze, its not optimum health I imagine.

I run the original AI hydra 52s, I always assumed it was from a sting not the lights.

@NanoDJS I’m running AI PrimeHD .Im not sure if the coral was like that when I bought it . Is there an article about it being caused by lighting ? Would like to read .

what are your light settings , and there is plenty of research about UV burn almost any soft tissue coral has the potential to get it. Just like us humans with soft tissue get sun burn or poisoning, cancer , keloids ect.
