Bounce ricordea?!

What causes a ricordea to make an air bubble? Too much light? Too much flow?

I got what is supposed to be a mutated Ricordea it def swells up more in high light, but even when it's been shaded it still does it. It's like a mushroom and a frogspawn had a love child.
