So I have been fighting an internal battle for the last 2 weeks. I have all this saltwater equipment but really wanna do a brackish tank.

then the idea took off when I saw a green spotted puffer and a figure 8 puffer and fell in love. They have high bio loads. A sump is perfect for them. I can use all my salt equipment (minus protein skimmer) and even add some compatible plants with extra co2 equipment. I have from other tanks.

So I’m making the transition over to brackish and since the tank isn’t done yet and I bought no live rock, it should be a fairly easy transition. My tank should be in my hands next week as it is a custom build

I just wish there was a brackish section with more people on board because I love this forum and don’t wanna leave it.

I'm currently working on a brackish tank for the same reason. I love puffers, but my 75 gallon isn't appropriate for a porcupine puffer. I am working on a 50 gallon brackish tank that I'll increase the salinity in as they grow. I've been really inspired by some freshwater aquascaping, and so I'm trying to acclimate a few plants to brackish water. (Anubias, Java, marimo balls, and I've got a few mangroves on the way.) It just finished cycling, and I'm going to paint the back tomorrow. It needs a little more water in it, and a power strip. I didn't do a sump. I'm just going to do frequent water changes. Yes, I know the driftwood waterfall increases pH, but the tank is staying right around 7.2 for now, and with the addition of plants will hopefully increase. (Obviously no fish yet.) How do you want to set yours up?

Hi! Sorry this is a late reply I just joined the forums. I also just set up my brackish tank and it’s on its 8th day. You can take a look at my intro thread for more info on it. I also absolutely love puffers and they’re the reason why I started the hobby!
I wanted to ask you, how long did yours take to finish cycling and be fully established?
Thanks
