I should have specified that they are the closest thing to a reef fish that isn’t a reef fish, in brackish water! It’s almost like if I leave one tiny bit of information out you start questioning everything.

I never said they were saltwater fish I am talking about brackish water fish. I know that guppies mollies monos, andgreen spotted puffers aren’t saltwater fish.

You didnt say that that guppies are saltwater fish, you just said that guppies are perfectly fine in full strength saltwater as found in our reef tanks - nothing further from truth.

Yeah I now know that they aren’t perfectly fine in our reefs now I say that.

One more thing in the very beginning of this thread I clearly stated that some of these fish might not farewell in our reefs. I didn’t say which ones but it’s there.

Based on what anecdotal evidence I have available to me guppies should not be considered except as feeders for lionfish that won't eat. Mollies should only be used for frag tank algae control and feeders and maybe other situations but I want to research them more. Green spotted puffer I don't know but to me it will be a brackish water fish. Monos imo should be moved to saltwater as they get older.

People on this thread we will now focus on only 4 specific fish here are the following, guppies, mollies, green spotted puffers, and mono fish.
We will now focus on these specific fish due to their natural environment. These fish matchup as close to a reef fish out there. ( for brackish water ) . These fish will be accompanied with hopefully some inverts but I will have to look into that. Well thanks to all the wonderful people who pointed out my mistakes and helped me fix them. No one is looking to question everything you say, but clearly, you are contradicting yourself in all your previous posts.

No, guppies are not “a brackish water fish that matches up as close to any reef fish out there” as you say yourself. That is simply not true.

This is an open discussion in a public forum, of course people are going to give you their input whether you agree or not. Take it with a grain of salt, or not if they’re freshwater.

Ok I’m going to try to be as clear as possible I don’t care if people give me their input, that’s fine what I care about is when people are aggressive or sarcastic it makes me feel useless and inferior. I came here with the thought that people will like it they will be nice even if I make mistakes. Obviously that was not the case. Not you though ams_reef, you’ve been nice to me I like that it makes me feel like I have to keep going all, all the threads that I have made except for polls have been responded to in an aggressive way at some point whether it be directly on the thread or a private conversation.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I don’t really see any aggression or sarcastic remarks on this thread, simply hobbyists debating a hobby. Don’t take things too personally, no one here is an expert nor cares enough to get worked up over guppies. Take things in stride. That being said, many including myself with many years of experience, research and tens of thousands of dollars spent on a hobby, will indeed have a thoughtful discussion on a topic they find interesting and it makes everyone better because of it.

If you are interested in brackish water species I suggest reading any material written by Neale Monks. He is an extremely valuable source of aquaria information with a focus on brackish water species in particular. The Puffer Forum, also another great resource. Any literature by Ichythyologists are a valuable resource on a given species, as is FishBase. Any old school WetWebMedia is also a gem.

Much the same way salmon and certain sharks travel into freshwater - it doesn't make it ok to advocate for acclimation into freshwater. Feelings hurt or not to say otherwise is to misinform.

The fish you speak of does not seem very large and in a tank with high flow and aggressive fish is not going to do very well. If you have anymore questions post them on my new thread.

I would like to explain that anything posted on this thread will be about mollies, monos, and green spotted puffers in our reefs. IN MY OPINION!, these three fish should live happily in a reef, but remember that all fish are different and not all fish are as strong as others. I will answer...

Hi, Can anyone help me with my columbian sharks that are in brackish water, I have looked everywhere for advise and seem to be stuck Still with no answers they need a particular GH and instant ocean wouldn’t help or advise what their product contains as I’m not in the USA this includes how it increases the water GH, even though they sell it worldwide, no test kits can calculate saltwater GH apparently because of the salt content, they say it’s too high yet all over the internet they say columbian sharks are brackish then full saltwater but require a specific GH so it doesn’t make sense.
