Brad’s 180g mixed reef build

I am a halide/T5 guy through and through. I do like the kessils shimmer though. It is the only led I can get close to the halide look. Tried it with all other major names out there and just couldn’t get the look, at least to my eyes.

Funny you say that too, there’s a used aquatic life T5/MH 72” fixture for sale near me for dirt cheap because the guy just doesn’t want it anymore. I did consider that option for a bit but several people turned me off from it.

We now officially have a light fixture, just drove down to VA to pick up an Aquatic Life T5 Hybrid 61”. I currently run two SBReeflights on my 75 so I’ll be making a DIY Mount for them for the time being until I have enough money saved up for either four radion xr15 or three radion xr30 pros. If any of you have recommendations or experiences with the light let me know!

Am definitely following as I have an opportunity to get a free 180gal, am verifying structure requirements right now.

I haven’t gotten around to finishing it yet, but I installed a third door on the right side and making a faux wall to drill all of my controllers into it. I’m still finding a way to run a cable raceway through as well

Feel free to ask as many questions as you go about your build, I definitely ran into plenty of snags and unforeseen issues that definitely helped me grow in my experience. Plus it’s extremely dynamic on which way to go with your build, so there’s a lot of leniency with how to go about the project.

And since I’m up, might as well show off the new addition...

The entire drive back I kept second guessing myself wondering if 61” t5 was going to be too short for the tank. I was definitely wrong, I’m in love with it! Cant wait to to get the tank up and running and get everything transferred over.

Because of the thickness of my middle brace, I need something thinner than 18.25” I was also looking at the synergy reef and geo sumps

Hey all, thought I’d update this since I’ve been really busy with work, and travel. Actually just got back from Memphis, TN and am heading to Oklahoma City here in a week. But I just scored a deal on three radion xr30 G4’s and am narrowing down my decisions on a sump as we speak. I think I am going to be able to get a custom one created by Geo or Synergy systems. I just have to decide on if I want to have it setup for triton method or not.

A local reefer had to up and move very suddenly for work and had to sell of his entire system, so I snagged three xr30’s (2 gen4 1 gen3) for ridiculously cheap. Just have to get new mounting screws and we will be up and running.
