Brainstorming for my first tank, suggestions welcome!

So I’m in the planning stage of my 90 gallon tall tank. This will be my first tank in 10 years and in the past I’ve done predator tanks with some softies like xenia’s, leathers, and zoes. Obviously in the last 10 years equipment and philosophies have evolved. I’ve got some fish in mind but need help with equipment and corals. I could use help with basically everything from livestock comparability to sump setup. I haven’t ordered anything yet. The tank will be first and I’ll build the stand at my shop. Below are some of my ideas.

Fish:
Moorish Idol
Ornate Butterfly
Clowns & Anenome
Teselatta Eel
Speckled Hawkfish
Chevron Tang
Tomini Tang

Tank: 90 gallon glass 48 x 18 x 25
Lights: Current USA Orbit IC Pro 4227 2x 48” lights
Circulation: Current USA eFlux Wave Pump

Some of those Fish are fairly hard to keep so I’d do my reserve before buying anything. For sump I’d do a refugium fillter sock skimmer and some bio media and carbon and or gfo.

I have a 240 gallon and use all the current eflux pumps and also twin dc return pumps. They are simply amazing and dead quiet, and just awesome. My lights are also current usa but I have the stronger version than yours. Since your tank and is 90 tall, 90% of your sps will need to be pretty high. As far as lps and softies you should be just fine, and with your fish list some of them may pick at sps Polyps anyway.

I love the moorish idol, but they are not easy to care for in a new tank. You should definitely wait till the tank is 1-2 years old for stability concerns. It can be done yes, but to heartbreaking if it goes south. Also the tang selection isn’t bad and tommini are great fish.

I would definitely have something setup to qt fish, and the anemonies I would also wait till about the 1 year mark. They more often than not have issues in new tsnks. In my experience they did just fine in my 125, and when I switched to my 240, the first 8 months no issues, and then just vanished. I have found keep a mixed tank like I do is kinda hard and working a way to change that.

Thanks for the great feedback. At least by their marketing, the whole eFlux/Loop system seems awesome. Having 1 central control system is right up my alley too.Thanks!

Some of those fish are pretty much impossible to keep.
Very few have success with a Moorish Idol. Ornate Butterfly are probably impossible to keep, these only eat coral.
Chevron Tangs get too big for a small tank.

The Eel is an escape artist. Unless you cage the top, it will get out to wander about

I'd say 75% of eel owners wish they never bought it.
