Hello does anyone have any experience with branching coralline algae. I’m interested in trying to incorporate it into my macroalgae tank.

Branching (articulated) coralline algae is a very common sight here on the California coast, though our native species feature conspicuous segments unlike those that occasionally make their way into the aquarium trade.

Bossiella sp., a temperate algae:

Jania rubens maricultured in an algae reactor; this species is used in beauty products:

Thin and thick branching coralline algae from Addictive Reef Keeping (also available from Gulf Cost Ecosystems):

@HeyLookItsCaps has some experience with them; I have not.

I’ve ordered from addictive multiple times. All was good quality, on the branching corraline there was a small mantis in there though. So take that for what it’s worth!

Ok so if I am able to get my hands on some would a standard dip be enough or to take care of some of the hitchhiker’s I used dry rock when I first did my tank so I have almost always have not had pest problems

I tried and bought some. But is is very fragile and broke in pieces. I probably broke some, but fish or snail did too. It also changed color, so I guessed it died.
I doubt I will try again, unless I can get good info of how, and where to grow them.

Well the first order was stalled in the USPS system for over a week. When I got it was stinky and nothing but crumbs. Addictive Reefkeeping resent the order and came quickly and much better condition. Been a couple of weeks and still waiting for it to color up and grow.

Hope it's okay to ressurect this. In risk of hijacking, Was curious if branching coraline algae ends up all over the place like encrusting Coraline algae. Not sure if it works like this, but does it "shoot out" sprores?

Can see some in the video below at 7:15. It's an interview the famed TigaBoy.h20. Either stray pieces are scraped or it pretty much stays put.
