Branching (articulated) coralline algae is a very common sight here on the California coast, though our native species feature conspicuous segments unlike those that occasionally make their way into the aquarium trade.

From my experience, this algae is relatively easy to maintain, though it is a slow grower. It seems to prefer high flow and lighting, as well as elevated calcium, as mentioned above.
