Branching Green Star Polyp dead?

It looks gone in the last pic. Get your parameters in check. You might have a cycle from dead stuff. When you get your parameters in good shape get a gsp frag. Not a costly colony. Some zoas. Maybe a kenya tree. These can really grow fast. Make your own colony. Then acans and a duncan or other hardy lps. It take time but it's very satisfying to see growth in your tank. Oh. Maybe a rfa. No bta or other nems for a while.

Thank you so much for all of the advance. I trimmed off everything that was falling on its own and when I flipped the green star over it had a worm growing. Could it have been infected with pests? It was very much still alive.

I’m writing down all of this information and it’s just goi f to be baby steps for me. I’ll definitely start with the Kenya tree and build from there.

The worm or the green star?

Looks like maybe your tank isnt even through the uglies and you stocked coral…

Do you have pic of worm?
There are worms that can cause issues to point of death. Need to identify.
These guys are fighters and there is chance of recovery. Is there purple slime (cyano) in the tank?
Again pics will help

Hello! It looks like you are just starting out and need some good tips. Have you read the setting up a tank threads?
It does look like you have some "uglies" (just a term for newer tanks - not an insult) on the rocks so life is happening in the tank. Also looks like you have a leather in one of the pictures that has some polyps out.

First, make sure you keep parameters stable. It is key to success in this hobby. Now the GSP will be hardy. Even if one polyp survives, it will continue to grow. Leave it in the tank and let it be. It will close up as you mess with it or the tank.

The other corals you showed, the one is only skeleton, the other looks ready to be gone. The zoas, just give them time and do not mess with them. They should open.

Tell us about your system. Sand, rock, animals, filtration, flow (powerheads), lights, etc. FTS (full tank shots) will help also.

No slime, light green algae on my rock. and I didn’t take a pic. It actually looked like a bait worm about 5mm in length completely white with a black tip. I’m debating on putting the piece that has the most purple mat back in my tank

Could be Eunice, dorvillidae or . . . .

Hi I had a 12 gallon tank with a huge colony of green star polyps I let them cover the glass but eventually they began to decline rapidly leaving a maroon looking mass that was almost like rubber with sand in it I manually removed it and it never showed up again .

Thank you so much! You all have been very helpful. My wife got me this tank for Christmas. I’ve had a community freshwater 55 g for over 15 years and like I said in an earlier post it has been on auto pilot for a very long time. The guy at the local fish store told her the tank would be ready to go in a week. Boy was that wrong advice. I’ve read so many differences of opinions. Lighting, livestock, etc. So I’m kinda basing my tank on a combination of everything I’m reading. It finally completed the nitrogen cycle about 2 weeks ago. Currently I have a trigger, lawnmower blenny, peppermint shrimp, a sand sifter goby,a cardinal, 3 snails about 20 lbs liverock, 1 bag of live sand 5 biosphere balls. My power heads; hygger 2600gph and hygger 1600gph with eco dc controller, lighting is the one that came with the biocube. Then a variation of coral. Duncan said pickachu zoanthid, which isn’t happy where it is. I’ve read it likes more flow and more light. I think a trumpet candy cane and I’m not sure what the other ones are. I know, I should have done my research.
