I had no idea these even existed but I would love to see pics of this coral from you all. These do exist under the scietific name Briareum asbestinum if you want to look these up.

They look identical to regular matting gsp. The only difference I’ve notice is the spread then the start branching and layering but end up looking like a ball

.

When the polyps are retracted you can see the intertwined branches

So like branching sps, but the branches are tightly packed?

you can see a small branch on the right.

That's not what's called a Pipe Organ?
Looks like one in my tank. The branches are a purplish color.

pipe organs generally create a very unique calcium skeleton.
however GSP does not create a skeleton, it just grows over yours after its smothered you along with everything else around it lol.

Oic Thanx. When the OP called it a branching GSP, that's what I thought of.
that was my first thought as well honestly. but then just realized it was probably more like the gsp using previous polyps to grow on top of and create super dense "branches" of coral tissue.
I have some that do this. 1/4 frag plug 3 or 4 nuclear green palys on it. year later the thing is 3 inches wide and 4 inches tall covered in hundreds of them. as they just started growing on top of each other.
ended up looking like a Christmas tree.
