Branching Hammer Coral Growth Rate

How long does it take the skeleton to grow on a hammer coral? I have a hammer coral that I got with 3 heads about 9-10 months ago, but now has 6 heads but I can’t frag them yet because the tissue is too close to the next head. Calcium is 440, dkh is 9.5 and Mg is 1,450. Any suggestions?

Looks like your core parameters are in good shape. What is your PH at? PH has a major effect on growth rates which is why so many people keep chasing higher numbers. A good PH and good parameters, I have heard anecdotally upwards of 2 heads per month. Sounds pretty fast but I have heard it multiple times so there might be some truth to it.

Thats a pretty good number although you will have some number chasers that suggest you go higher.

Sorry i cant be more help and definitive with my answer. Light levels, parameters, nutrient levels, tempurature, 'beechiness' of the coral, stability of the tank all contribute to growth rate fluctuations.

I have the same situation one head has grown into 3 heads. still too close on the tissue to cut so im waiting .
