Hey my name is Luis and I own a 40gal Aquatop Cube AIO. Ive been upgrading it little by little and I have a lot of corals with stable parameters in my tank and Blastomussa happen to be one of my favorites! My question is, do they branch or do they encrust? I own 2 different types. Wellsi & Merletti. Ive found very little info on propagation or how they grow. I only had 1 head of a Pineapple Blasto (which now has 5 heads) & 1 head of a Pink and Green Blasto (which now has 8 or 9 heads) but both are Wellsi & the new heads just sit on the edge of the main head and they don't really protrude out. I recently purchased a Purple & Neon Green Blasto Merletti (which came with 2 heads), (10+ head) Blue Raven Blasto Merletti & for a kicker i also grabbed a White Speckled Orange Blasto Wellsi (6 heads). Again neither have heads that "branch." So, I guess I'm asking how do they grow? And how does one propagate them?

Hi Luis, they usually grow into a dome shape, makig propagation a little more difficult. I would reccomend cutting them with a rotary Dremel or coral bandsaw. They are difficult to divide with bone shears or cutters.

Thank you, honestly that was helpful.

No problem Luis! They are a beautiful coral but I have to admit the extra step of setting up a saw often keeps me from fragging them. Always something else I can frag more easily with my limited time available for the tank.

Im actually gonna be buying a small band saw with a lube system. I have favias, duncans, euphyllia and a lot of micromussa. So I think the bandsaw is gonna come in handy.
