We've been loading our tanks with pods every other month or so. I also add phyto. I'm cautious with it in our small tanks. Only about 10ml at a time.

Phyto, being a living organism... you really cant overdose. Maybe turn your water green for a little while, but it doesnt cause a nutrient spike like dried plankton foods will. It will actually act like a refugium in your water column. Because it is alive, it will absorb nutrients... might be a minute amount, but it's way better than dumping the same amount of something like reef roids in.
