I try to envision what expensive corals will look like dead. Eventually, that is what I will end up with. That usually curbs my enthusiasm.

Had this discussion before...show me the science. That is like saying pure water is bad for you so drink the polluted water to get your minerals. The majority of mineral uptake us from your food period. All the minerals from suppliments just gives you expensive urine as very little if any is absorbed. NIH publications support this fact.

While some water particles tend to penetrate into our organs, the water in our body tends to come out of our organs(osmosis(not reversed osmosis), and since the surfaces in contact with the water we drink are designed to let some molecules big as (C₆H₁₂O6) through, then the ions necessarily come to dissolve and get lost via the stomach. (which has absolutely nothing to do with urine).
There are, of course, debates about these facts. But I'm going to tell you that evolution has always made us drink water that was not RO. If you want to believe in companies that hope to sell you bottled water (the idea is the same to sell you an osmosis machine). Feel free, but please do not go around and act like somebody who can actually give you the facts.

With all the pesticides,pharmacy drugs and what not, I'll stick to ro water. I can taste the difference. I don't get that chemical taste and I'm on city water.

well I buy bottled water from a known and stable source.
As for the fish , obviously RO water.
Best I heard for us is 'purified water'.
We live in a very harsh environment.
Hell even drinking the rainfall would be acidic.
One thing you must remember like everything else, diversity is the key.

How's the Dino battle going??

Wayyyy too hungover to be looking at that.

It’s over I’m pretty sure. Kind of some interesting dynamics going on with the tank.

The bubbles persist at the top of the rock but there is no Dino bloom. So either it’s trace amounts of Dino that are slow subsiding or something else.

I’m also getting a diatom bloom lol on some of the new rock that wasn’t recycled from my previous tank.

This new tank build was a bizarre one, it’s gone through a reverse cycle: coralline first, cyano second, Dino third, diatom fourth.

Everything is looking great lol.


I also hate to say it, the microbacter 7 may be cleaning up the frag tank, just don’t tell my lfs.

Looking at my tank after work today, it seems my algae outbreak is cyano not dinos.
Going to just get some red slime remover from BRS and give it a go.
Been super busy working lately so I won't be able to do WC until Wednesday morning.
Ordering red slime remover Thursday.
Going to do couple WC between Wednesday and Sunday.
Need to replenish the tank and get it a bit more stable, my nem is pi***d off at me right now.
BUT my Brute can is ugly with some brown crud from running an air pump and two airlines into the Brute when I was cycling rocks.
So I have to use up the last of that water then scrub and clean the Brute really good and make new water before doing a second WC.
Going to start dosing the microbacter 7 weekly with my WCs until things stabilize

This is purely anecdotal but I think a once weekly microbacter 7 dose has done the trick for cyano, or at least enough to not worry about it.

I haven’t cleaned the glass in a while so excuse the pictures but you can see where the cyano spots have turned clear.

It’s pretty easy to differentiate between Dino and cyano. If it’s got that bright red/purple color and spreads horizontally then it’s cyano.

Dino is stringy immediately once it blooms and will push a ton of strands upwards as soon as it starts.

You do you. It takes some getting used to but most insist on pc being dominant for speed and accuracy in the long run. I’m not playing any sissy frou frou fortnite so don’t care none the less.
