I've messed with acrylic once and build a little tank for my salamanders and really liked it. @Lowell Lemon, any suggestions for small CNC machine for a beginner? I think it would be fun to make stuff out of acrylic like sumps and stuff, but not sure where to start. I wouldn't want to for a business or anything just for fun.

I have a suggestion for you. Look up CNC Router parts.com. I have one of their CNC's and I talked the engineers into mounting a Stone spindle for me that will machine Engineered Stone and Granite. They are shipped flat and the assembled product is very rigid. For a light machine the Pro models are the bomb. You would have to make your own vacuum hold downs or I could help you with the parts you would need. You can start with a counter top size if you want. There are lots of small machines out there but this one by far is one of the best for the buck. If you want an automatic tool changer I think they are working on one.

The next possible machines are all from China and one of the distributors is in the R2R forum. His product is more expensive but it was my first choice but I needed two machines and not one. So I rebuilt one I was given in exchange for 4000lbs of Corian scrap by a local sign company. It only cost me about $3000.00 to rebuild. So for less than the price of one machine I have two now. I have inserted a quote from lapoza below. Take a look at his office tanks on the forum. He did a really nice job on the remodel. I think his machines would be a great option if you want automatic tool changers and all the bells and whistles.

@lapoza "We are the United States Dealers for Roctech CNC machines, so I've always got one on hand to tinker with :). I should find someway to monetize them and produce product but the screen printing keeps me plenty busy"

For me the choice is easy right now, I have a lot of work to do in the back yard before a pond. Where’s the pics of the pond?
I will post some after the big cleaning and filter upgrade in 3 weeks right now it's in an ugly winter phase.

Storm tore of the pond netting last fall because I didn't have it installed correctly. Got a bunch of leaves in it an made it murky.

Thank you for that, I don’t think I would need all the bells and whistles. This would mostly be for fun. I just enjoy building things.

Andrew too, kinda why I wish someone here did acrylic.

Forgive my mini rant. Who in the heck told guys the "sagging" look was hot? ;Vomit
no one, apparently during the 90's and early 2000's people thought it was cool but didnt understand that it meant you want it up the rear in jail. I tell my fellow peers to pick their pants up before someone thinks something.
