Hey Will. Don't use that algae fix. In my opinion , the tank needs to have algae for a while. It's natural. It's part of the process.

Did you open up the lid at all? Powerhead to the surface and such ?
No worries. A lot of folks think it's ugly not a good thing in a tank. Yea, too much is a problem. But.
It's kinda like having a puppy. When ya first get it. It poops and pees all over the house so you have to clean it up a lot. It's a baby. As the puppy gets older it is easier to clean up after.
When you first set up a tank , you kinda have to clean it up a lot too. As it gets older you won't have to clean it as much.
That stuff kills the plants in the tank. A lot of the animals in the tank. Even the tiny you can't see, eat the plants so it's kinda bad for them. Your sea star or fish might be eating the plants too. That's why I don't like to use stuff like that unless the algae gets really really bad. Like really bad.
