ok i have some questions... 1st- Could I have blue tuxedo urchin in my tank. 2md- what can i get to eat the algae on my glass... because for some reason my snail doesn't care for it. 3rd- how do I keep my kena tree from being uprooted by my crabs? Because the base of one is a shell and the keep trying to get into it. So how do i keep them from it? my starfish also move them... SMH. and 4th- Has anyone found any open shells yet? for my crabs.

Coralline really loves your tank. I wish it would take off in mine already... One of the disks the zoas came on had some really nice reds purples and pinks on it. I scraped it all off into my tank.

1.) I would stay away from an urchin in a small tank. They have a huge appetite and usually starve themselves because they eat faster than tanks can grow algae.
2.) Magnet scraper... my snails would rather stay on the rocks in the frag tank and they are getting(got) electrocuted in the cube... imagine Eduard Delacroix in The Green Mile.
3.) Gel superglue. It should have a warning on the back that says "contains cyanoacrylate, bonds fingers instantly." Cyanoacrylate is reef safe glue.
4.) I just pulled out 154.2 million snail shells from my tank... glad I didn't toss them out. Let me soak them in some bleach and PM me your address and I'll see about sending some of them to you. IDK if they are the right size for your hermits, but it's something.

Ehh, I'm still 2 months old. It'll grow. My frag tank had a ton before I put the urchin in there. The live rock that's left in there looks like I took a dremel to it. That's why he's staying in there, I want coralline in my display.

ok sounds good. But should I tear the snail shell from the coral? because it is buried in the substrate and they will continue to dig it up.

No, glue the shell to your rock. Hermits won't be able to pick it off... my urchin on the other hand laughs at superglue.

but the coral is currently in the sand... and I wanted to keep it there, as I really don't have room on my rocks for kenya trees

Thats a tough one then... maybe find a small piece of rock that you can glue the shell to and set it back in the sand. Something small, but heavy enough that the hermits can't carry it off.

For glass algae i love my astrea snails. In your 29 i would order 12-15. They also work the rock and pumps but mostly glass.

No experience with Urchins here but theyll move all kinds if things from what ive read and even wear corals as clothing per Turtles thread.

You know I killed so many I forgot... Yes, turbo astreas stay on glass it seems like... ugh, Turtle needs to order CUC after our ground probe gets in today. Working tomorrow and Monday. Holiday pay! Should be able to afford a nice CUC package after the first of the year.

Welcome, to R2R!!! You should try a super easy coral in your tank. One hardy, fast growing coral is green star polyps. They grow like a weed. You won't really need to take care of them because of how hardy they are. Please post a picture once your tank is setup so we can see!!! Good luck!!!
