@saltyfilmfolks Talk to me about microbubbles. If that is an issue, what can we do aftermarket so to speak?
On the Tunze skimmer , it’s part of the break in period.
They now come with a small sponge that fits into the bottom of the skimmer to reduce it. If you bought used you can email Roger at tunze USA and get one for a few bucks or just use some aquarium sponge.
We can tag Roger here too. He’s cool.
I have no idea If my skimmer in the sump makes or made bubbles really. I have the over under over at my intake skimmer section.

The Hippy kids gonnna like the tunze compact. You have to take apart every now and then to clean it.

@saltyfilmfolks How could I not? The reputation is really good!

I think that's WAY undersized.. IMO, that is a nano skimmer. You will need something much more powerful. Your tank is bigger than mine, and that skimmer wouldn't do a thing for me.

EDIT: Skimmers don't overskim unless you set them to do that. They do as you tell them to :(

@Rakie I never underestimate the power of my fuge.

That's fine, but there's a LOT more going on than that.

Lower aeration, lower pH from a weaker skimmer, microscopic skimming cup (which means if anything makes it go crazy your dirty skimmate will spill into the tank instantly, because that tunze holds like 4 ounces of water).

There's a lot of reasons you could use a larger skimmer, I'm sorry to say.

I respect your opinion. I also know my reef. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I have considered my pH and aeration. Things I have had issues with due to having a closed system. I could go with a bigger skimmer, but not right now.
