I ordered a second drill bit so I can use this one up practicing. I may have gone into it a little over confident. The proud get humbled. Lol
Lol! I would love to blame Aqueon but I looked through all 5 of the 20L tanks at Petco and picked the perfect one. I am 95 percent sure it was me.Stand looks great. Practice makes perfect and there could have been a defect in the glass...deflect the blame...pun intended
Sorry to see that. How were you cooling the bit? With running water, or did you build a dam and fill it with water? Did the bit bind just a little when it broke? Just trying to figure out how that happened.Everything was going so well today. I got an Amazon order with the stuff to finish my stand and some parts for the setup. I got the stand finished except paint and install. I had time left in the day so I designed my overflow (by copying fijicube) and made a jig to drill my glass, and it was going so well until the bit almost broke through. I was leaving very little pressure on the drill and slowed the speed a little and then POP.![]()

Happy belated birthday!My birthday ;Drowning
I built a guide with a 1/4 inch plywood piece with a perfect sized hole in it and duct taped it to the glass. I then filled the hole with water. The tape dammed the water in. I stopped to pour clean water in about 4 times. I should have taped the bottom as the water poured out when one edge cut through. The bit felt like it got bound up when I was nearing the end. I think i slowed the bit too muchSorry to see that. How were you cooling the bit? With running water, or did you build a dam and fill it with water? Did the bit bind just a little when it broke? Nice! Have a blast. I cant wait for my first frag swap in SeptemberOff to the Frag Swap going to get my first corals today. I'll post pics later.
Thank you for the advice! I am off to Petco now to get a tank. I will give that a shot this afternoon.I usually cover the back side of the area to be drilled with a couple layers of duct tape and then clamp a piece of wood on the back side, on top of the tape. Or drill the glass panel, before assembly on a piece of wood. I find that this helps keep me from breaking through unevenly. Good luck with the next one.
I'm back from the swap!!
Gotta go grab the bayer from the trunk and get stuff set up to temp acclimate, dip and finally put them in my tank. So excited still.
I got Nuclear Green Nepthea, Aqua Green Nepthea, 2x Glittering Gold Acros, MC Purple Mille, Rasta Zoas, Miami Hurricane Chalice, 2x Idaho Grape monti cap, Bubblegum monti cap and a WWC Slimeball.
I also met Ryan and Randy from BRS, great guys. And also acquired about a job, they're hiring.
Man, that sounds awesome. I wish I was there. Looking forward to pics after they are in the tank and opened up.Also bought a couple frag racks from fijicube on superduper sale!
Very nice. I’d move the hurricane chalice away from the acros it has long sweepers at night. The other chalice I think is actually a Hollywood stunner. Bubblegum has hot pink eyes. That one also had long sweepers so keep it away from everything, at least 6 inches. That slimeball is awesome!! I can’t wait to see that grow!Left: MC Purple Mille Center: WWC Slimeball Right: Glittering Gold Acro
