I have mine in the return area of the sump. I have three auto temp probes that I check periodically and they alway match within half a degree. But the sump getting low and reading wrong throws a whole new fly in the ointment in my head!

Can other fish bump a BTA while swimming by with out being stung?
If they get stung what happens?

A brush by sting is manageable. Usually it is worse if they get caught up in the anemone’s tentacles. Then they may twitch or worse. They will have sting marks.

I'm pretty sure touch = sting. BTAs can be pretty sticky also, but not as sticky has a carpet anemone. Carpets will eat healthy clownfish. I dont think one accidental brush would be the cause of a dead or eaten fish tho.

Not trying to get rid of any. Tomini had to touch them the other day but still hangs out by them with no care. Other fish are cautious around them

The bigger my tomini gets, the less he cares about anything being in his way. He is 4" at least now and thick. Steals food from my dwarf moray all the time and is the only fish my clowns to not run off from their nest site. He's chill with the other fish, but he is the only herbivore in the tank. I have a feeling if I were to put another bristle tooth in there, he would have issues.

Mines a 1.75" baby and he picks on the only fish he can -- The poor little firefish lol.

He tried to start some business with my adult male leopard... Didn't go his way. Tang kept trying to show his size, and blade, leopard just nipped his tail instantly and he buggered off. Everything tries to show the leopard how tough it is, then he just bites them and they stop thinking they're tough and it's back to harmony under the oppressive yolk of a big butt wrasse

Yea it’s been on my mind since before I even installed the thing lol. I always over analyze stuff like that. My original plan was to put it directly in the display but I don’t have any suction cups that would hold it. I have it in my skimmer chamber now, when I moved it at first the temp read 77 instead of 78 like it was reading prior in the return chamber, giving some validity to my query. It’s just a degree but still, lol. I wonder how cold my display has actually been getting, it gets 65 inside here every night. Winter was 60. Hopefully the true display temp is very similar to the skimmer chamber. It’s still been driving me nuts thinking about it.

My tank is odd... there is no one decisive leader. I think it's more of a coalition between my female clown(backed up by her mate), the tomini and the melanarus. The leopard, and black leopard will bite the melanarus if he tries to assert dominance over them, but he gets first dibs at the nori. He is almost 5" long and has a large girth. The tomini will push him out the way if he is hungry, but usually they take turns ripping into the sheet one after the other. The fairy and flasher just kind of do their own thing along with the sapphire damsel. The dwarf moray stays inside his rock all day. I see him when he's hungry every few days.

The human body is pretty good at telling temperature differences. 1°F between rooms is noticable, and that is air temp. I'm sure you would be able to tell to a greater degree in water, given its greater heat transfer properties than air. If the tank feels cold(er) or probably is. Stable is more important that chasing that magic number tho.

I run po4 at 1.0 and no3 at 60-80. I worked really hard and got them to 0 and 20. I ended up with really nasties that almost whipped all my corals out. I lost about 80% of my corals.

My tank liked 10-20 no3 and .03po4. Just Zoas and lps, and fairly new. In the newest iteration with a fuge, the nutrients dropped to 0 detectable with a test kit. I have not needed to dose my normal daily Kalk mix for 4 days, telling me my tank doesnt want to be a low nutrient tank.
