Back in the 60s, the "Surfer's Cross" was popular here and everywhere. Me and my two neighbors bought some at the local old school convenience store (open air) and wore them home. My neighbor's father who was just 15 years removed from serving in Germany during WWII had an absolute fit. The Surfer's Cross was in actuality a symbol of the "Iron Cross," which was a German commendation medal. Well, all of those Surfer's Crosses had seen the last light of day in our neighborhood. We were stupid kids and had no idea.

a guy I went o church with in the 80s new the pilot of the enola gay. He was a navigator on a B29. The day his plane was shot down and all lost, he game down with appendicitis and missed the flight.
