I've never felt the need to use the L-word in the 5 years I've been on the site, and I am member of the community. It's just a part of who I am and not really anything to do with reefing. I think it probably has to do with the sites ranking on web searches, certain words on the site lower your rank. At least that's how rev justified some other words that were censored. Have you ever googled it? Half the listings will be sexual..That seems weird. If I fell under that “class?” I would be outraged. For a orientation to be considered so bad it has to be bleeped out seems really wrong. Shame on this site
I am only concerned about censorship on this site that relates to the hobby, like removing unfavorable reviews of sponsored products or things like that. This is a privately owned site, they have a right to set rules and I can agree to them or not, participate or not.
This one doesnt bother me cause I dont perceive it as being anti-LGBT, like someone said "gay" is not censored. Just like I choose not to eat at Chickfila because of the money they put towards anti-LGBT causes. There are several openly gay R2R members, male and female, I can think of and they havent been censored or banned to my knowledge.
Just my 0.02 as a pretty liberal member of the gay community, IMO there's much bigger issues for me to be concerned with. But I grew up in the south, and came out in high school in the 90s, so maybe the experiences I've had in real life make this issue seem trivial, idk. Now, if I get banned after this post.....[emoji6]
