Do not worry about the sharks. 90% of the sharks innthe surf in SC are spinner sharks. They are 4-5' long amd 40-50 lbs. They absolutely know you are there, and are uninterested.
Take a helicopter ride. Our water is brown amd heavy with silt so you cant see them when they are right next to you, but up above, you can see the shadows. Sharks EVERYWHERE but nobody getting bit.

I'm off all next week... I went to midlands tech for 6 semesters to learn how to fix vehicles and worked as a mechanic until I figured out there were better ways to make more money.

We saw Caribbean reef sharks on 3 of the 4 dives this past week. Beautiful animals and normally they ignored us. I got a bit nervous when one came up behind me and almost got within touching distance but otherwise they stayed 20 to 30 feet away. As long as no one is chumming the waters, I don't worry about it. If someone is cleaning fish? I stay away.

If you mean just adding a little seawater, then probably not much benefit. If you mean using it exclusively like PaulB, then that would be a really inexpensive way to go and it wouldn't be synthetic seawater. Not much downside, unless you bring home some polluted water from close to shore, or some pathogen.
We have a saltwater lake in the middle of town here, but on the other side sits a number of refineries. It might be interesting to collect some water, run it through some mechanical filtration to get the silt out and send it off to be tested. You may have just given me an idea!
