Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

Any of y'all keeping clams? I really want one. I also like flame scallops.

My little guy shuffles a bit most days but has stopped moving, it is right by the desk end glass. :)
The mouth tube thingie is like looking at mother of pearl if the light catches it right. ;)

I would recommend trying a Derasa first. I have had good luck with them in the past. Flame scallops are usually just temporary residents. Not photosynthetic like clams. They are filter feeders.

Flame scallops, no matter what folks say, are one the hardest to keep marine creatures.

I don't know if it's the way they are collected or what, but everyone I know with one just has it slowly waste away or just plain recede into mush after a couple months.

I once had one for 6 months and that was the longest I have seen.

I recommend squamosa (sp?) as a first clam. Easiest to keep and seem to prefer a little extra nutrients in your water.

I had a rummage in my lfs clearance frag tank and got 3 little rescues for £20.
4 heads of very not happy trumpet, the mouths all looked intact. :)

I got 2 frags of this, again mouths and disks intact.
... I recognized the frag plugs, these are dragon soul favias! :)
The one at the back is in worse shape than this though so we will see. :)

I know I've said this before but this thread moves fast so I'll post again.

When we get a clam we will get a clam keeper kit from Algae Barn.
Everything you need from one place, ready to go.

I follow a lot of journals, from high end sps tanks to display refugiums!
"Just" a leather, I love this as much as any other coral in my tank! :)
It's not all about the price of a coral, beauty is in the eye of the beer holder! ;)

Don’t start a trend of people wanting to collect high end softies, Simon. I love softies and are probably my favorites. I just want to enjoy them before the prices go up. :-)

You know she (do some reading but I guess you did already) is a gorgeous pod destroyer, try small foods like calanus, I miss my pair. :)
I've had them before. I love her. I have lots of pods, but mine always eat frozen too. I have been trying to get a pair.
