Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

I have this Betta and he has had this spot on his top fin for a couple of month's I have treated it with Melafix and BiFuran with no change.. He seem happy .. Will this end up ... You Know.... Killin him and how long can he stay like this?

How old is he? It looks like a tumor, possibly caused by genetics or ripping his fins. As long as he’s still eating and swimming it should be fine. Also nix the melafix, it’s harsh on labyrinth organs. Instead treat with warm clean water, api aquarium or epsom salt and katappa leaves, or rooibos tea. He seems to have been fail biting too, unless you have decor or other fish that is ripping him up.

It’s an Accella, no idea how old. Came with the tank, at least a year but probably MUCH more.

Autocorrect.... tail biting lol. Long finned bettas can become bored, or have really heavy fins and chew their tails. It happens pretty commonly and will sometimes cause fin rot, but not always.

I would say take it apart and give it a good cleaning, and order a back up.

1TBS per gallon. 10-15 min bath.

Definitely! If the leaves don’t seem to tan the water well, you can brew some rooibos tea and slowly add that dripped into the tank. It works just as well. Though, there’s nothing like the smell of a katappa leave. They smell so amazing.

Catawba... that's what we call them. The worms that live in the tree are the best fish bait for pond fishing. Grab a few worms and you're guaranteed to catch fish. The leaves get really big, but then the worms eat them all...

Magnolia leaves work too, as well as oak and almond(no almond trees here tho). Lots of magnolia trees tho. I have a bag of them around here somewhere for making tannin tea, but I dont really need to with the drift wood. It makes plenty of tea itself in the tank.

Looks like fun rot. Mine had it for a while and recovered fine.

Already done and done. This is the exact same pattern that occurred with the other pump before it died for good. My reef was fine, I just took some water out, so the water level in the back was where it’s supposed to be for filtration purposes. Apparently 9x turnover is enough...my Goni was actually happier with the lower flow! Took forever to get it to fully open again after the new pump went online, it is such a finicky beast.
