@siggy I took your advice. We are having Glass Cages make our plywood stand. There is no risk of it breaking the tank. We are going to trim it out and paint it. That's the fun part anyway. I was really stressed if it was off just a little...I could never replace this tank. It's special.

The little guy went in about a month ago, I introduced it about 3 or 4 inches from the domino and they swam slowly nose to nose and have been inseparable from that moment!

It’s much easier to talk to them on Facebook messenger, believe it or not. Takes them a day or so to respond but when they do they will converse and explain everything you ask.

Very cool to hear about the progress on the dream tank! For the sandbed are you going to keep wrasse depth on side where you can view the burrowing behavior and keep it shallower rest of tank?

OK, so I'm very late to reply, but I just can't keep up with the pace of discussion here! ;Hilarious;Hilarious;Hilarious;Hilarious
I used white adhesive/silicone as well. The rockscape is started and I hope to have a complete first draft of it done today. This is the current big picture. 90g DT at the left, old 16g tank in the middle is being used to hold rocks and corals as things get move around in the DT. And the small tank at the right is the aiptasia killing tank! The cabinet on the left has a sump/refugium and the one on the right has a 20g ATO tank and will hold the dosing pump, Ca & alk supplies. The open center section will get a door... eventually.
The top two levels are roughed in. The rocks and coral on the bottom egg crate level and sand are just waiting to be moved into place, ignore them. The frag racks will go away once the rockscape is done and the frags can get located in the holes I pre-drilled in the rocks. There is a new 32" Reef Breeders Photon V2+ led fixture due soon. I will be using it and the 24" unit over the tank now. Being 30" front to back I'll use 2 fixtures to insure I have enough PAR everywhere in the tank.

Ooo ooo big thing to take into account when doing the stand build!!! I can't believe I forgot about this, Miracles insists on a styrofoam pad between the tank and the stand (Anywhere between 1/2-1" thick, mine under my tank is 1") All I did with mine was take the trim up to cover it but I planned for it from the beginning. If you're trimming the stand out yourself it shouldn't be a big deal but I just wanted to let you know now instead of being surprised about it later.

What is the benefit of styrofoam over the foam rubber? My waterbox tank and sump has the foam rubber under it, it’s also not very thick. Is styro a better option?

I'm honestly not sure, I've seen all different types of materials under tanks and they all seem to work. I think that styrofoam will handle any imperfections the best though as it's JUST ridgid enough to provide excellent support but also gives when and where its needed. Most other materials are either either really on the soft side or really on the hard side of things. Styrofoam is a good middle ground so to speak.
