Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

We all are. This is exactly what the Miracle is all about. The tank that love built. I am more excited about this than I was for my own build, LOL!

+1
every question idea thought you share jazzes me up! I can’t wait to see what you and Andrew do with this tank it is going to be epic!

I'm not sure we want to run the UV all the time, but definitely in the event of an outbreak. Tangs have me a bit nervous.
I have a Pentair 25 watt uv. I run mine 24/7 @ the flow rate recommended for the Protozoa. I got it after losing all my fish to velvet, so this is just an extra step for me. It’s no guarantee, but every little bit helps!

I have never run UV, but it makes me wonder if anyone ever changed the flow rates up as a kind of catch all. Say 12 hours a day at the Protozoa rate and 12 hours a day at the higher algae/bacteria rate? Maybe that is just silly talk.

That would be great if it worked. There have been plenty of times I wanted to change the flow to help with algae/bacteria bloom, but haven’t been brave enough to try it. It broke my heart when I lost my fish, especially my Whitetail Bristletooth Tang. Had the UV installed before adding any fish

I was wondering if you could do it like 2-3x a week?
I see no reason why it could not be used this way. When it is on it eradicates. Does not require any media or maturity.

Having UV on hand with an ich magnet would be almost a requirement without a hospital tank though.
Personally, I will never use a UV. The hit that pod and phyto populations would take isn’t worth the possible benefits.
