brand new BTA vs Xenia?

first, thanks for glancing at this thread and helping out! as title states, got a brand new BTA (kinda big!) and I spent yesterday evening moving Xenia and BTA spent yesterday chasing Xenia wherever I moved it. In the photo, you can see the BTA won overnight, and is using the Xenia rock to grasp onto. (All lights are still off, so that BTA gets much bigger and will touch xenia once opening up). Should I try to move these again? Will it harm Xenia?
I also do not run carbon ever, I tried once and it almost killed all corals in an old tank, not brave enough to try that again.

See if you can save a bit. It may drop babies on it's own.

The anemone will probably keep moving until it finds a spot it likes so it might work out still

The BTA is probably doing you a favor.. I love pulsating Xenia but it will completely overrun your tank once it gets a foothold, I know better but I purchased a beautiful piece from my LFS a few years ago that I tried to keep isolated on it’s own rock but it spread like wildfire and was a absolute nightmare to eradicate.

I love Xenia too so don't feel you have to fold to those telling you to get rid of it.

I would frag that piece you have and move one piece to its own island so it can't spread all over your rocks. You can bury most of the frag in the sand so it has even less room to spread. Watch for it dropping a colony to assure it doesnt migrate.
The BTA looks like it'll open up quite big so it'll most likely starve out out that remaining piece. That's probably for the best though cause once you get Xenia on your main rockwork it is very hard to remove.

FYI, it doesn't scream when you cut it. Lol. Glue your cutting to a shell or rubble if you don't have any frag plugs.

You can use a rubber band if you don't have glue. If you have nail glue (cyano...) It works.

A 60w LED fixture from Amazon.. I’ve been shocked, $60, and it reads 97 PAR at the sand. I figure he will climb up that rock if he wants more light!

Xenias are the only coral I have that can be in constant contact with the bta's. The xenias continue to grow even when surrounded by bta's.

I've heard xenia are pretty irresistible to anemone stings, or I should say I've read from quite a few places.

I just had a mushroom kill Xenia in my tank. Curious how this will play out.
