Brand new Red Sea Reefer 350 modification

I recently bought a brand new red sea reefer 350. I haven't started the tank yet.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to run a filter floss roller on it. I have the V3 sump with split for refugium.
It's looking like my only choice is to remove the filter sock area entirely?
Anybody have any experience with this?
Obviously my main concerns are with my warranty.
