So i have seen this on here or another fourm before. A comparison of the different brands of salt, comparing calcium, ph, etc.. I have spent the past hour trying to search for it and have not come up with any results.

Anyone help me on this one?

IO and Reef Crystals are all that I have ever used. Both are reasonably priced and very available (latter is key as I am pretty religious about water changes and would be uncomfortable switching salts cold turkey). They are basically the same salt except that RC mixes to a higher Alk and Ca - purportedly designed for an SPS reef. RC does mix with pretty high Alk and Ca - which is where I run my reef - so I can just mix and go. With IO, I have to add 2 part before I introduce to system so as not lower my Alk/Ca. Many, many, many TOTM both here and on other sites have used IO/RC, but I am following your thread as well to see if I am missing out.

I ran Instant Ocean for years in my FOWLR tank. After losing my tank this year, I decided to go heavy into corals. I was using Instant Ocean but recently switched to Seachem Reef and couldn't be happier. My levels are holding longer and I think my corals are getting more trace minerals. I am dosing less two-part and my system just seems happier. Plus, I like how easily the Seachem mixes.

I have been using Tropic Marine Bio Active and have had good results. Breaks up real nice in water too.

I made this topic in looking for a type of spreadsheet format that had the brand names in one column, then there were 3 more columns. One column was calcium, next column was mag, next column was alk. I think.

For years I used io and liked the results. And my lfs ran out the other day and so I had to get the next one on my list and that was kent marine reef salt mix. Have to say I may switch from io. It's even cheaper.

I've been using kents salt for 8 mo and like it. Buy in the box for best saving and its as cheap as IO and has higher levels of cal and mag
