Breaking down live rock.

Hi sorry might sound like a dumb question apologise in advance.

I have a large piece of live rock, been in my tank coming up to two years. I am thinking to take a hammer to it and break it down.

Will this have any effect on the levels in my tank what so ever and if so what should I expect?

As long as this is done in a timely manner I don't think you'll have any problems busting up the rock. GL.
