Breaking ick lifesycle?

I recently lost my olny fish to ick.. My reef currently has no fish as of august 14th. How long before I can add fish again? My temp is at 78

76 days is usually the norm for letting the tank go fallow (without any fish), but I also came across a writing here that said 45 days is enough.
