Hello everyone!

I have been wondering this for a bit now... has anyone placed their breeder tanks under their main reef tank display and have them all connected to the same sump? If you do, how did you do it and please share pics! I have space right next to the sump that I can use for some tanks :) just need to figure out if its possible to connect a tank or two under the stand. Thanks!

Even though you have the space, might you not want the breeder tanks on a separate system in case you have a disease outbreak or other problem in your DT, and need a quick hospital / quarantine / extra ‘holding’ tank for any reason; especially some where to use medications that was not tied into your DR? Just a thought.

I'm still in the process, but my build thread details a few different designs that I had. But then again, my system is going to be breeding heavy, and coral-lite. The system's a "top-down waterfall" system, so it'll go from one tier of tanks to the next tier, and drain to the sump.

Personally, I think that the sump and only the sump should be on the bottom tier if working with a multitank system. Figuring out plumbing and draining is hard.

I see. Interesting set up. Keep us up to date with photos, and best wishes. :)

Thanks for the comments guys :). I will consider a separate system for the breeder tanks! I am still curious though if there’s any other thoughts/ideas on this topic besides keeping them on a separate system?

Once I’m home I’ll definitely look at your thread for sure!
